A doodle about ... market bags

Updated: Oct 15, 2020

Imagine this. You are strolling through the farmer's market (yes, it looks like on tv!) choosing perfect, luscious looking fruits and vegetables. You pay the vendor and then slip them into a unique, one-of-a-kind market bag ... that YOU made!

It's easy and fun! This month's project is the "4x12 Market Bag". Why is it called the "4x12 Market Bag?' Because you will knit 4 panels that are 4" wide and 12" long, as well as 4 iCords that are knit on 4 stitches for 12".

Market bags are best made from cotton yarn because it is sturdy. A variation is to knit the iCord handles around some cotton cording or jute to prevent them from stretching. The fun of this pattern is you get to play with colours! It can be monochromatic, two colour or multicolour. You are limited only by your imagination.

Have fun playing with sticks and string!
